DESERT HAVEN ANIMAL REFUGE
Williamsburg, New Mexico
SIERRA COUNTY'S NO-KILL DOMESTIC ANIMAL SANCTUARY
The Golden Rule is our guiding philosophy, here at Desert Haven Animal
Refuge: treat others, the animals, our members and all life, as we
ourselves would wish to be treated.  It is the key to a better world for
all of us. Through the generous hearts and hands of people like you, we
are helping build a future that will be rooted in kindness and caring.
There is a place for everyone who
wants to help maintain and upgrade
Desert Haven, from working on
projects to preparing the noon meal
for the volunteers who meet on
location every Tuesday
Renew your bond of love with the
animals - visit us at Desert Haven,
and help us give the abused, the
unwanted, the neglected animals "a
new leash on life."  Be an integral
part of the network of caring and
kindness whose value extends far
beyond the simple care of the
animals at our No-Kill Refuge.
At our No-Kill Refuge, not only do we value the lives of the animals,
we also value their unique personalities.
Desert Haven Animal Refuge is operated by the Sierra County Humane
Society, a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to the welfare of
animals. The Society and Desert Haven are funded by corporate and private
donations. We receive neither local nor federal tax dollars. All donations are
tax deductible.

The Sierra County Humane Society and Desert Haven are entirely staffed
by volunteers. SCHS is governed by a Board of Directors.  Elections are
held each February at the annual membership meeting. Members serve a
term of three (3) years. Officers are elected by the Board.

Thanks to the kindness and generosity of our members and animal loving
friends, including local businesses and professionals, we are able to continue
our never-ending work towards accomplishing the mission of our Society:
                      Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
                      Relief of Suffering Among Animals
                      Extension of Humane Education

"LOVED BY MANY - RESPECTED BY ALL"
Jerry's passing in 2005 was a tremendous loss, not only for his family and
friends, but also for Desert Haven. He was instrumental is purchasing the
property for the sanctuary and in getting the no-kill animal refuge off the
ground. The memory of his love and concern for others will live on forever in
the hearts and minds of those who knew him. He left the world a little
better because he was in it.
